NTUC Health Ageing Centre (Redhill) Grandparent’s Day on 1 November

Grandparents’ Day is celebrated in the month of November. To celebrate grandparents who reside in the Redhill neighbourhood, NTUC Health Ageing Centre organised a fun-filled morning of activities. Gan Eng Seng Primary School was invited to be part of this celebration to promote intergenerational bonding and community integration. Grandparents living in the vicinity were encouraged to bring their grandchildren with them to spend quality time forging closer ties.

Our GESPians hosted games to engage the guests cognitively and physically in our self-made games. It was indeed a great experience for our Prefects to practise their skills in communication and confidence-building.

Radin Mas Silver Joy Programme

Our GESPians were invited on 6 September 2025 to be part of the Silver Joy Community Programme in Radin Mas Community Centre. Silver Joy is a programme designed for seniors aiming to foster social interaction and well-being through regular fun activities, monthly outings, and meaningful opportunities for connection with volunteers. This new community initiative is dedicated to bringing more smiles, connection, and well-being to our beloved seniors. Our students brought joy to our seniors by engaging them physically and cognitively with their own designed and prepared games. This is a valuable opportunity for them to experience intergenerational bonding with the elderly and service to the community.

GESPians at the Children’s Museum Takeover

This Children’s Day was especially meaningful for some of our GESPians who took part in the Children’s Takeover — a collaboration between Gan Eng Seng Primary School and the Children’s Museum Singapore (CMSG). Through this unique experience, our students took on real museum roles such as administering tickets, ensuring safety around the premises, and hosting guests at various exhibitions. They managed and ran the museum independently, showcasing responsibility and teamwork.

The experience helped them to grow as confident communicators as well as creative and critical thinkers. During the training sessions, they showed curiosity in their learning through reflecting on their roles and even suggesting thoughtful ways to enhance the visitors’ experience. On the actual day, they put their learning into action, warmly welcoming guests and creating a fun, pleasant experience for other children visiting the museum. It was heartwarming to see their confidence, empathy, and joy in serving the community shine through.

Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Art Exhibition

The Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Art Exhibition provides opportunities for students to showcase their artistic talents and promotes art appreciation in schools. We are proud to share that our students’ artwork has been selected for this year’s exhibition. Their art pieces illustrate the tiny wonders they appreciate in their everyday lives.

Artist statement
Take a peek into our little matchboxes HDB flats in our little island of Singapore. Food is a big part of our lives and weekends are spent visiting places using excellent public transport to world famous Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa, Marina Bay Sands, and JEWEL.

Teacher Mentor's Comment

This being the students’ first SYF artwork, they wanted to do well. They brainstormed on what to focus on and came up with the title of the artwork. It is very heartwarming to see these little ones throwing out ideas and giving their best at all artmaking sessions.

Artist statement
Singapore Changi Airport, named the world’s best airport for the 12th time, celebrates its remarkable achievement with an artwork reflecting its vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. Featuring clean strokes, vivid colors, and a view of the terminal, the piece embodies the pride and unity of Singapore, showcasing the nation's identity as the "Little Red Dot."

Teacher Mentor's Comment

After sharing the SYF theme with them, I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to come up with the relevant idea readily. They displayed good teamwork and great determination to create a top-notch artwork. During every art session, they were able to draw out their own experiences in the various places of interest in Singapore. From their artwork, I was heartened to see that they expressed their love for Singapore and displayed their passion in arts.

Introducing INSPIRE Mall

GESPS is proud to unveil our very first ‘INSPIRE’ Mall — an innovative learning space designed to mirror real-world retail experiences. In this authentic environment, students engage with Math concepts such as money, discounts, and percentages through hands-on activities in a simulated supermarket. The mall also houses Singapore’s first-ever escape room experience specially created for primary school students. Here, learners apply their knowledge from Maths, Science, and PE (Health Education) to solve puzzles using educational technology and “escape” from one of four uniquely themed shop spaces.

Exchange Programme with Thai Schools

As the school had visited 2 Thai schools in Chiang Mai last year, this year the 2 schools – The Prince Royal’s College and Suwannarat Wittayakarn Primary School – came to Singapore and had a 2-day exchange programme in Gan Eng Seng Primary School. It was a fantastic opportunity for the visiting students to immerse themselves in the school culture and expose to a different education system. These Thai students had the opportunity to attend classes alongside our students and participate in cultural activities. It had created a lasting impression in the students of both nations and provided students with meaningful cross-cultural learning experiences that go beyond the classroom.

P1 VIA – My First School

Our Primary 1 GESPians had the opportunity to interact with younger peers from My First Skool Through their interaction with the pre-schoolers, our students were able to show kindness and care towards others and be role models in behaviour and attitude. It was also a good platform to nurture empathy, responsibility, and a sense of contribution in our Primary 1 students by engaging them in age-appropriate acts of care and friendship towards the pre-schoolers
